Alex Jeynes

Alex Jeynes is a Scottish photographer based in Edinburgh, working across snow, surf and soil. He’s drawn to changing environments, shifting light, fast weather, and raw emotion. Whether it’s bottomless turns deep in the backcountry or fast-paced moments on the coast, Alex thrives in climates where adventure and sport meet.

With a background in freeskiing, Alex started his journey as a ski instructor in 2015 in Canada, before spending over a decade chasing winters across the globe teaching, guiding, and eventually picking up a camera in both hemispheres. Since then, he’s been telling stories through both images and words, writing for magazines and online publications, building curated collections, producing books, and creating work that feels honest, lived-in and alive.

Now, his focus is on projects shaped by sport, weather, and wild places. Inspired by ski films and surf magazines, his work blends clean lines, motion and natural light, capturing moments that are both dynamic and grounded. He’s known for making people feel at ease in front of the camera, creating space to allow things to happen naturally, whether it’s on a summit or in the sea. He believes in living slowly, yet works quickly and adapts instinctively depending on the conditions. His aim is always the same: to create images that feel lived, not staged.

Based in Scotland and available for projects worldwide, Alex splits his time between personal work and commissioned assignments, covering events, collaborating with brands, and always chasing the next weather window.
